Recently, Laos partnered with a well-known Chinese power plant equipment manufacturer——China's Sichuan Huaxi Energy Industry Company has signed a clean energy cooperation agreement worth a total of 1.45 billion US dollars.

According to official sources, this cooperation agreement was signed in the southern province of Sekong in Laos, involving a large-scale project1800 MW clean energy generation project. China's Sichuan Huaxi Energy Industry Co., Ltd. has teamed up with a Singaporean construction company to jointly undertake the design, equipment supply, and construction tasks of the project. The preliminary design work is expected to be completed by the end of this year, and the entire project is expected to be fully completed by early 2030.

Although the specific clean energy technology used has not been disclosed, this project will undoubtedly greatly enhance Laos' electricity production capacity and further consolidate its position as an electricity exporting country in Southeast Asia. Laos, as one of the ASEAN member states, is known for itsKnown as the 'Southeast Asian Battery', its electricity export volume ranks among the top in the region. This cooperation with China Huaxi Energy will once again demonstrate Laos' leading position in the field of clean energy.

In addition to the power generation project, both parties also signed a value agreementA transmission agreement worth 228.8 million US dollars. This is not the first time that China Huaxi Energy has entered the energy market in Laos.
