In the face of increasingly severe traffic congestion, the Malaysian government has recently clarified its response strategy: prioritizing the improvement of public transportation services rather than immediately imposing traffic congestion fees. This decision was officially announced by Malaysian Minister of Transport, Lu Zhaofu, at a press conference attended by Fast Bus Private Limited.
Minister Lu Zhaofu stressed that the Changming government has always taken reducing the cost of living of countrymen people as an important task, and transportation costs are also the focus of attention. Therefore, the government has decided not to impose traffic congestion fees on private cars at this stage to avoid increasing the economic burden on the public. He pointed out that the Ministry of Finance has a full understanding of the needs of the public transportation system and has provided full support, which will provide strong guarantees for improving public transportation services.
Our top priority is to improve public transportation services and encourage more people to choose public transportation as their mode of transportation, "said Minister Lu Zhaofu." As for congestion fees, we see them as the last resort to solving traffic congestion problems. At this stage, we will take other measures to alleviate traffic pressure
In fact, the Malaysian government has taken a series of actions to address traffic congestion. For example, the engineering department has implemented policies restricting the passage of heavy vehicles on specific roads. Although this policy has to some extent affected the operational efficiency of the logistics industry, it has also significantly reduced the traffic burden on some roads. According to preliminary statistics, this policy has reduced traffic congestion on relevant roads30% and received positive feedback from the general public.
Previously, there were rumors that the Malaysian government was studying the feasibility of imposing congestion fees to address the serious traffic problems in the capital Kuala Lumpur. But Minister Lu Zhaofu clarified clearly at this press conference that the government currently has no such plan. He emphasized that the government will continue to explore other more effective and less impactful traffic management solutions for the public.
The Malaysian government's decision reflects its deep concern for the needs of the people and its emphasis on the public transportation system. By prioritizing the improvement of public transportation services, the government hopes to guide more people to choose green and environmentally friendly modes of transportation, thereby effectively alleviating traffic congestion and improving the quality of urban life.
