March 8th marks the 11th anniversary of the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370. The Malaysian government announced on the same day that it will collaborate with British ocean exploration company Ocean Infinity to restart the search operation for the missing flight, and promised to continue to pursue the truth based on "credible clues" in response to global concerns and the long-term demands of the families of the missing persons.

The Malaysian Ministry of Transport stated in a statement that the Cabinet approved a new round of search plans submitted by Ocean Infinity on December 13, 2023. This operation will focus on an area of approximately 15000 square kilometers in the southern Indian Ocean, using a "no find, no fee" cooperation model - the Malaysian government will only pay the relevant fees after the discovery of aircraft wreckage.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) of the United States and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) have confirmed their participation in this operation to provide technical support for the search. Both countries also adhere to the principle of 'no charge for not found'. At present, the Malaysian government is finalizing the final agreement with all parties and thanks all participating institutions for their professional support.

This mission will be carried out by Ocean Infinity's deep-water support vessel "Armada 7806". The ship arrived at the target area in February, approximately 1200 miles from Perth, Australia. The Malaysian Ministry of Transport emphasized that the new search area has been redefined based on accumulated ocean current data, satellite analysis, and debris drift models in recent years, with stronger scientific rigor than before. In addition, the company's upgrades in deep-sea exploration technology in recent years, such as higher precision underwater robots and side scan sonar equipment, are also seen as key factors in improving success rates.

On March 8, 2014, MH370 flight carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew members flew from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, but lost contact with the ground about 40 minutes after takeoff. Radar data shows that the plane deviated from its course and flew towards the southern Indian Ocean before completely disappearing. This' most mysterious disappearance event in aviation history 'has triggered one of the largest sea and air search and rescue operations in human history.

As of 2017, a joint search by multiple countries covered over 120000 square kilometers of sea and cost approximately $160 million, but only a few pieces of debris confirmed to belong to MH370 were found, including a flaperon and wing fragments. Afterwards, the official search was temporarily suspended, but civilian organizations and families of the victims have been calling for the resumption of the investigation.
